WHO ARE SWAYTHLING?

Swaythling Housing Society is a non-profit making organisation run by a management board of volunteers.  We began building affordable homes for rent in 1925.  Founder member was local architect, Herbert Collins.  A “Collins House” is a selling point for his Southampton homes today.  Swaythling provides intensive, continuous local management to its developments.  It has a vigorous anti social behaviour policy.  The Society has committed a dedicated Community Development Officer to build community relationships.  We do this because we want to be a good landlord.  Everyone renting our properties is nominated by the local Council.  Anyone interested in renting, should contact the Council.  Anyone who has not held a social housing tenancy before is offered an assured shorthold tenancy for an initial twelve-month period.  This can be extended.  Our residents who rent may be able to buy their properties after five years.  New Build Home Buy allows people to purchase half of the property and pay us rent on the other half with the option of buying us out.  For more information ring 023 8062 8004 or look on-line at www.homesinhants.co.ukWhen the Audit Commission last inspected Swaythling, they judged our services to be good with excellent prospects for improvement.  We were only one of four in 2005-2006 to get that award.  Only one housing association did better.  Swaythling Housing, part of Radian Ltd, provides services to over 8,000 households across Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire.  It manages over 5,700 homes.

Radian builds around 300 new homes every year.  It is building 230 homes on Dowds Farm.
